RiverRun Community Montessori Promotes World Peace With Its Very Own Winter Olympics
RiverRun Community Montessori students and faculty will once again hold their own Winter Olympics this February to showcase the importance of World Peace. As a Montessori school, deeply rooted in Dr. Maria Montessori ideals for Peace, RiverRun will promote the Olympic Truce. The RiverRun Winter Olympics will showcase our commitment to educating for peace as well as our spirit of community, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
RiverRun students will lead the opening ceremonies with flags and torches; the students will be arranged into teams representing South Korea, People’s Republic of China, Jamaica, and Greece. The competitions will have a gold, silver, and bronze finisher; however, the spirit of the RiverRun Olympics will stress the importance of the Olympic Creed, which promotes taking part in the events and doing your best.
RiverRun students will take part in a variety of Olympic winter sports on our campus and at local sporting venues. The opening ceremonies will take place on Wednesday, February 7 at 9:15 AM.
Founded in 2008, RiverRun Community Montessori provides individualized Montessori education in a community setting for preschool, elementary, and middle school aged children. RiverRun is the only Montessori school in Schenectady County with elementary and middle school programs, serving families throughout New York's Capital Region and beyond.
