In keeping with Montessori and progressive principles of adolescent education, our Middle School program integrates subject areas around engaging central themes.  We begin and end the school year with overnight trips to foster connections between students which serves as a foundation for the trust and communication skills built throughout the year.

Students design and implement community service projects which connect to their own interest and the needs they have identified in the wider world.

The program also has a strong outdoor component with kayaking, hiking and cross country skiing as weather permits.  This allows students to gain self-confidence, strength, and coordination while immersed in a real-life laboratory for inquiry into subjects such as ecology, history, geology, literature, meteorology, mathematics and physics.
