RiverRun Community Montessori will offer
primary and elementary Montessori education for ages 3 to 12 years in
Fall 2008, its first academic year. Located in Schenectady, New York,
RiverRun was founded as a not-for-profit school by a group of parents
seeking a local and affordable Montessori elementary education for their
children.
The Primary Directress is responsible for
all aspects of the primary classroom for children 3 to 6 years of age.
S/he will oversee day-to-day classroom operations - administering a
Montessori curriculum and providing a warm and nurturing learning
environment for RiverRun’s primary students. S/he will establish and
maintain an open and cooperative relationship with RiverRun families.
The Primary Directress will oversee the Assistant Directress. S/he will
work closely with and report to the Head of School.
Minimum qualifications include a thorough
understanding of the Montessori philosophy, time spent in a Montessori
setting, and a college degree. Montessori certification, especially at
the primary level, is highly preferred. If necessary, Montessori
training may be provided before school opens.
This is a full-time 10-month position with
an opportunity for summer employment if desired and a generous benefits
package including all school holidays off, tuition discount, health insurance, and
continued Montessori training.
