Summer Camp 2010

July 12 – 16 – Architecture
Learn the basics of buildings, forms, structures and functions and then try our hands at several different structures – a fairy house in secret places, water structure, bird house, and maybe even a ogre house or something Yoda might live in.

July 19 – 23 – Cooking
Let’s try something new each day! We’ll cook a little, eat a little, share a little and hopefully expand our skills and share the wealth. We’ll bake some dog biscuits for an animal shelter, some cookies for people who can’t get out of their homes and perhaps try our hand at the local soup kitchen.

July 26 – 30 – Council of All Beings
We are all connected, people, animals, rivers, mountains, trees, flowers, air. We’ll take on the role of river or beaver, tree or mountain and see how we work together, depend on one another and discover what we need to stay healthy. Through tracking animals, identifying trees and examining pond life we’ll turn what we learn into a play or story for others to enjoy.

Ruth Lindenfelser will be teaching all sessions.  Ruth been an assistant teacher at Our World Montessori in Niskayuna, NY for the past five years as well as the school social worker. She has attended numerous Montessori trainings that have helped to broaden and support her daily work as a teacher, a social worker and yes, as a Mom. Ruth and her husband and daughters reside in Schenectady, attend Montessori schools in Schenectady, and enjoy all the things we’ll be doing in our camps and more!

“Our care of the children should be governed not by the desire to 'make them learn things', but by the endeavor always to keep burning within them the light which is called intelligence.”  - Maria Montessori
