We seek to sow life in children, rather than theories, to help them in their intellectual, emotional, and physical growth, and for that we must offer them grand and lofty ideas to explore.
— Maria Montessori

RiverRun Middle School Students lead and mentor their younger peers while they look eagerly to the horizons of the wider world.

Adolescents have great work to attend to! They are deep thinkers and askers of big questions -- about themselves, their communities, and the universe. At RiverRun, they investigate these big questions through project-based work and shared inquiry, applying what they learn in practical and meaningful ways.

Our 7th and 8th graders are confident and collaborative people, creating and leading school-wide projects, traveling into both natural and urban landscapes with increasing independence, and learning to recognize themselves as powerful shapers of our world.
